All this mess from a naughty rat. Luckily the customer called us out before it got any worse.
The first image shows where the rats were entering the manhole. The next images shows us cleaning the drains using the high pressure water jet with our gully grab in place to ensure no debris, fat & scale moves further on into the system. The last image shows the drain after cleaning.
The final solution was to plug the hole in the manhole using cement. Next we carried out a CCTV survey to ensure that there was no further damaged and finally we installed a rat-gate to prevent the rats from coming back through the system.
The customer was very pleased with the final result and thankfully the rats have gone!
In summary, if you’ve got rats in your drains, you need to find out where they are getting in and fix the drain so that they can’t get in anymore. CCTV drainage inspections and good old fashioned concrete and cement are invaluable in this situation.
