Here is an interesting job where we were called out to a property in Southfields, London SW18 to perform a homebuyer’s CCTV report.
There had been complaints of damp rising through the basement. When our engineers arrived on site they lifted the interceptor manhole and found it was blocked.
Upon clearance, we found that the blockage was due to a blue slate which was on the front driveway, that had found its way into the drainage system. We believe this was due to the manhole not being properly sealed.
With the blockage cleared, our engineers performed a light clean using our high-pressure water jet to make sure that they could obtain a clear picture.
With the drain cleaning completed it was time to survey the system.
It was very fortunate the customer had contacted us prior to purchasing this property. Our engineer found numerous defects along the system an this could have been very costly to repair.
Our engineer believed that the damp was being caused by these defects leaking into the ground and then into the basement.
We recommended lining the system to ensure that there are no further breakages in the drain pipe.
This case reiterates the importance of home-buyer CCTV surveys and shows how they can save a great deal of money and hassle in the long-term.
The client was very grateful and complimentary about our services and agreed to leave us a review on Google Maps and Trustatrader.Com.
